8 Ways to Jazz up your Fish Tank

Having a fish tank can be a lot of fun, and not just because you get more animals to love and adore. The tank its self is a blast to decorate. It’s so easy to add just a few accessories here and there and really jazz it up, or change it completely. The best part is, a lot of decorations can actually be useful too: as water cleansers, hiding places, and enrichment.

DIY Doggie Headband

Don’t you love headbands?!  They are such a cute way to throw your hair back in a pinch. I love those days when my curls cooperate and I can use a headband to push them out of my face and still show them off (otherwise I wrap them up and hide them in a bun).  I know that doesn’t seem to have much to do with pets, but what I’m getting at today is dog headbands! A super easy, ten minute craft that will look as cute on your pet as it does on you. *Bonus, you can make matching ones. I just thought of that, and it’s now on my to do list (I love Max, but sometimes I need a girl dog).   Anyway… super easy craft –  three supplies, one tool, and your pooch is ready for a beautiful hair day at the park! Let’s get started shall we?

Guide to a Pet Disaster Pack

It doesn’t matter what part of the world you live in natural disasters, of some sort, are universal. Nobody likes to think about them, but being prepared is the most important thing you can do!!! My usual plan is: worry a bunch when nothing is happening, make a plan, get prepared, and then hopefully never have think about it again. Here in Florida, hurricanes are our most common threat. We haven’t gotten a bad hit in quite a long time, but we had two little ones pass through last year, and we’ve already had a couple tropical storms blow through this summer. In my lifetime, Florida mostly gets hit in the fall, so it’s that time again when families start going through their supplies and making sure everything is in order. I found this great resource for getting your all your pet’s ducks in a row when it comes to natural disasters. No matter what kind of disasters come your way, be it hurricanes or something else, I can’t stress enough the importance of being prepared, not just you, but your pets too.

Fresh Food Matters for Your Herp

Making sure you provide a well balanced diet for your herp is just as important as eating enough fruits and veggies yourself. With all the commercial foods it’s easy to get distracted from what a well balanced diet actually looks like.  To start with the obvious, it’s going to look different for different herps, but should consist of one or both of these things: plant and live food. Commercial foods are balanced, generally healthy, and readily available, but fresh food plays such an important role in your pets mental and physical well being that it can’t be put aside!
